Caspian Sea Tipping Point: From COP29 UNOC 2025 Outcomes to Actions for COP30

On October 2–3, 2025, the Baku Convention Center hosted an international conference on “Caspian Sea Tipping Point: From COP29 & UNOC 2025 Outcomes to Actions for COP30” initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Founder and Chairperson of IDEA Public Union.

The event, jointly organized by IDEA Public Union and the Caspisnet scientific network, aimed to bring together scientists and experts in the fields of marine ecology, aquaculture, hydrology, geographic information systems, and other related areas from more than 10 countries to exchange views on the water level fluctuations of the Caspian Sea, its biodiversity, and ways to preserve ecological balance, as well as to discuss joint solutions.

Speakers at the conference, including the President of COP29, representatives from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN-Habitat Programme, and specialized research institutions from various countries, addressed opportunities for regional cooperation in the protection of the Caspian Sea, water resource management, and strengthening international coordination.
