On January 11, a large-scale forum “Year-end Results and Challenges Ahead of COP-29” was held at the Baku Convention Center, organized by the Azerbaijan Tourism Agencies Association. The event brought together various representatives of the tourism sector, government officials, and around 1,000 participants.
The opening session of the forum highlighted the significance of 2023 year for the development of Azerbaijan’s tourism industry. It was noted that the strategic policies implemented by President Ilham Aliyev over the past 20 years have transformed Azerbaijan into a regional tourism destination. The forum also emphasized the substantial increase in the number of foreign visitors to the country in recent years and the contribution of modern hotels and accommodation facilities built in both the capital Baku and the regions to the development of the tourism sector.
The forum included two key panel discussions: “Public-Private Partnership in Tourism Development: Achievements of the Past 20 Years” and “Opportunities and Challenges Ahead of COP-29: Expectations from the Tourism Industry”. During the panel discussions, representatives of the tourism industry addressed questions of interest and shared views on the future development prospects of the sector.
Within the framework of the event, a joint statement was adopted on behalf of public associations operating in the tourism industry, expressing support for the policies implemented by President Ilham Aliyev. The statement emphasized the importance of continuing these policies to further strengthen the activities of tourism associations in Azerbaijan.
In the conclusion of the forum, participants once again underlined the importance of promoting Azerbaijan’s tourism potential and ensuring the country’s successful representation at international events through collaborative efforts.
